Kafunta River Lodge is set in the riverside forest on the banks of the Luangwa River overlooking the South Luangwa National Park. Kafunta’s accommodation is of the highest standard in the valley. This classic safari lodge offers its clients all the comforts whilst being situated in unspoilt wilderness. Kafunta consistently ensures high standards of personalised service and the attention to the finest of details. The 8 private chalets are built on raised wooden platforms and have thatched roofs. Mahogany floors and walls add natural beauty to the luxurious interiors. The 2 luxury suits feature an upstairs viewing verandah, a downstairs balcony and a luxurious bathroom with double sinks, two showers and a free-standing bath.

Kafunta River Lodge specialises in game drives which are accompanied by its outstanding team of safari guides. The early morning hours are ideal for a game drive or alternatively a walking safari can be arranged. During your afternoon game drive we stop for sundowners while experiencing the magnificent African sunset. You continue with the drive in the dark which allows you to spot nocturnal animals.

Island Bush Camp

Island Bush Camp Chalet

This small, personalised camp lies under a grove of Mahogany trees on the banks of the Luangwa River. The Island Bush Camp offers rustic accommodation in grass/reed huts build on stilts that ensure safety from wild animals and provide an unlimited view of the Luangwa River. The 5 chalets are equipped with the modern comforts of hot showers and running water. The Island Bush Camp lies 2 hours drive south of Kafunta River Lodge in a very remote game-rich area of the southern section of the park. The Island Bush Camp emphasises exclusive walking safaris, which are accompanied by a safari guide as well as a national park ranger. Alternatively game drives can be arranged.
